Who is eligible to apply for our green energy skills bootcamp?
All courses in our bootcamp are available to all adults over the age of 18 who have the right to live and work in the UK, and who have also lived in the UK/EU for the last three years. Candidates can either be employed, self-employed, unemployed or an employer looking to upskill your workforce
What qualifications do I need to have prior to starting this course?
All heating candidates must have at least a Level 2 NVQ in plumbing, gas or heating and vent and electrical candidates must have at least a Level 3 NVQ/Diploma Electrotechnical
Do I have to pay for the course?
If you are self-employed or unemployed, you are eligible for full funding and do not have to pay. If you are employed - your employer will be required to make contribution towards the course fee, with the remainder of your course fee funded by the Department for Education (DfE). If you are an employer with 249 employees or less, you will be required to contribute 10% of the course fee, with the remainder of your course fee funded by the Department for Education (DfE). If you are an employer with 250 employers or more, you will be required to contribute 30% of the course fee, with the remainder of your course fee funded by the Department for Education (DfE).
How long is the course?
The course is nine days which is fully flexible and can be carried out during evenings and weekends to allow all candidates to wrap around work commitments.
Where will the course take place?
The course is available in three locations: Liverpool, Bury and Rochdale. We are now offering an alternative course with 70% remote learning via Microsoft Teams and 30% in-centre practical learning. All candidates can carry out the majority of learning online and will be filtered into the nearest venue for practical learning in either Liverpool, Rochdale or Bury.
What do I need to bring with me?
We will provide everything you need while you are enrolled on the course, with the exception of safety boots when you are taking part in in-person training.
Is lunch provided?
Tea and coffee are available to purchase on site and there are facilities in the local area to purchase snacks and lunches.
Who this course is for?
Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, for people looking for a new role or job opportunity. You will be offered an interview with an employer once you complete your course. If you claim Universal Credit, you can apply and continue to claim benefits. You may be eligible to apply for a Skills Bootcamp if you: - are aged 19 or over, - have the right to work in the UK, - live in England, - meet residency requirements (we can check this). Some Skills Bootcamps have additional eligibility criteria, including home postcode. Contact us to check if you're eligible and to apply for the course.
What you will learn?
Our Bootcamp Heating Technologies Course will equip plumbing and heating engineers with the appropriate knowledge and skills regarding Water Regulations, Energy Effeciency, Unvented Hot Water and the design, installation, testing, commissioning, handover, servicing and fault finding of Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems and Heat Pumps Air Flow.
Where next?
Once you complete the course, you'll be guaranteed a job interview. If you're self-employed, you'll be able to use the training to seek new opportunities for your business. If you're being supported by your current employer to complete the Skills Bootcamp then you'll be offered a new role or new responsibilities.
